All that time

Standby everyone you have a momentous decision to make!  In order to synchronize the world's atomic clocks and bring them into line with "Earth's own distinctive rhythm, which in this case is determined by its rotation," we all will be gifted an extra bit of time at the end of this year sort of along the lines of the extra day that we get every four years.

So everyone how are you going to spend your "leap second"?  It seems "Mother Earth" is slowing down in her old age so this causes the 'official time keepers' to have to add time to keep things in line.

slowing down & cooling off if you believe in geology. She could be sped back up by an asteroid hit, but she will continue to cool until her core is “dead” & cold… or the Sun gobbles us all, whichever comes 1st. Gosh, aren’t I cheerful

a positive little ray of sunshine indeed

Speaking of Sunshine a significant Solar flare might warm to core back up if it were to hit & sterilize Earth.

enough magnetic flux in that flare & it might even spin it back up a little too.

It could be like a 2 billion year face lift for the planet.

as good a reason as there is to get off this rock in a durable way with all reasonable haste.

do you foresee these things happening within the next 1400 years?

A flare or an asteroid strike could happen tomorrow with little to no warning or not for another million years. It is after all big out there & we’re a pretty small target for natural disasters of that magnitude. Still there’s the ample evidence that we do get struck by asteroids & or comets large enough to change our spin rate, our orbit & to even move the surface in relation to the core.

A pole shift is happening right now! Wake up!!!

that has to do with earthquake & volcanic activity, not asteroid strikes or solar flares. Life has survived several pole shifts with little setback, big asteroids send us all the way back to the single celled sea critters, solar flares basically the same or worse.

No! Many arks have been used in the past and prior impacts did not kill every species!!!

I think I’ll spend my extra second in the bathroom, where everyone will have to wait a whole extra second before shouting, “Aren’t you done yet?”
