You are so right! I don’t usually comment on political blogs, but that’s not what this is. This is how everyone should behave!

Who you vote for or what religion you follow are just surface things. Deeper layers reveal similarities that make us human.

agree with all but the world view, it’s precepts and principles are foundational to your ethics

Yes. I’ve seen this in my own family, and, among many friends.

I don’t know that I agree with that. It depends on the political candidate and what they stand for and how horrible they are.

really? How is another person (in this case a political candidate) change the person you have know for however long?

It makes me lose respect for them and see they aren’t who I thought they were all along.

I’m sorry for that, but I still know my friends and family well enough to disagree but concede that we have differing hierachies of importance that lead to choice we each would not make for ourself

In the case of my aunt I just think she is terribly misguided.

No, I don’t. When we were talking on the phone the last time, I asked that we not talk about politics, that I loved her and for our family, we were all that is left of them, and we should not talk about things like that.

Same principle with friends, though if you can agree to keep it civil with a quit signal both can abide by it works.

Political correctness and such will dictate that we look at all “religions” as the same, they aren’t. A Bunny Rabbit is not the same as a Lion though they are both animals. A rapist is not the same as someone who has never committed rape. A thief is not the same as someone who has never stolen anything. In the same way, there are those who wish the United States to not have freedom or liberty. Then there are those who will vote and fight FOR freedom and liberty, the two groups are not the same regardless of how much the Liberals want to claim otherwise. There are those who secretly want discrimination while claiming that they are all for “equality”, and then there are those who have actually fight against discrimination while remaining silent. I would respectfully disagree that it doesn’t matter what one believes nor how one votes.

It is how their beliefs are translated into action and life-style.

LOL! I find the thought of losing a friend over their beliefs or the way they voted to be ludicrous and laughable. As far as I am concerned once a friend always a friend.

at times we may doubt their sanity but I agree once a friend you really have to work hard to break that

As far as friends go, I lose a lot of respect for them. I see them as totally different than I thought they were. I still care about them, but I feel really sorry for their ignorance.
