For at least 3 reasons

1. If you do it correctly you can beat out the computer in getting good gas mileage.

2. If [God forbid] you need another braking system; down shift.

3. They are more fun.

    Manual shifts I guess you mean. If you can drive a clutch then you can drive anything. If you can only drive an automatic then… you can only drive an automatic.

        I learn on a stick and so did my wife and kids. I am afraid I don’t have one to teach my grands.

          I learned on an automatic (HS drivers ed) but family drove manual so my dad had my boyfriend at the time teach me. It gives me great internal giggles when I go to by a new car and the salesperson gets this panicked look as I insist on a manual transmission.
